Let's make your first macro. A macro is a short list of steps that does a repeat job for you.

Go to Macros, and press Quick build.

Pick what you want to automate. We'll file a copy of a download with today's date.

Answer a few questions. Here, the newest file in your Downloads folder.

Then where the copy goes. The word date, in curly brackets, becomes today's date every time it runs.

Press Next, and it shows the steps it wrote for you.

Press Open in the builder to check them.

Each step is a card. Click one to open it and change it, or press its play button to try it on its own.

When it looks right, press Save macro.

Press Back. Your new macro has its own card on the Macros page.

Press Run to try it. It starts after two seconds, so let go of the mouse. Escape stops it at any time.

The card tells you how the last run went. Next, give it a key, so you can start it from any program.

  • A step has a blank or says “pick a spot”: open it in the builder and fill it in.
